Popular Ghanaian Actor, Van Vicker has revealed how male actors in Nigeria chased him out of their movie industry when he had not wronged anyone.

He revealed to Nana Ama McBrown on the United Showbiz programme that, he became a hot cake in Nigeria and almost all the movie directors were after him for different roles in their movies.

He added that, the male movie actors in Nigeria became jealous of his growth and started kicking against him. He narrated that the Nigeria movie industry is very lucrative as compared to Ghana.

He adds that Nigerian movie directors understands the movie business and offer good money to actors whenever they feature them in their movies.

Van Vicker disclosed that, he was being bombarded with scripts and different roles in Nigeria when he started acting there, and that was where his fellow actors started chasing him out.

Nigeria was good. Their movie industry is very attractive than Ghana, because they pay good money to actors. I went there for movie roles and when I got there, I was getting different roles and that is where the male actors started being jealous of me. They saw me as a competitor to them and they started chasing me out of their industry. They were kind of jealous of how I was rising in their country”. Van Vicker noted.

He however added that, life later got back to normal when they finally realized he was not a threat. He notes that, most of them became friends with him and that was the beginning of another growth in the Nigeria movie industry.

“But later, things became normal after they understood, I was not there as a threat”

Van Vicker also expressed his dissatisfaction about the gradual collapse of the Ghana movie industry due to lack of support. He adds that, government should assist directors to enable the industry regain its original status.
