Highlife musician, Kwaisey Pee has recognized popular actresses Jackie Appiah and Nana Ama McBrown among the few celebrities we have in Ghana.

He stated that the ‘Beautiful Soul’ actress and the ‘Mummy’s Daughter’ famed actor can be described as celebrities.

He added that a person must have positive impact on the people to be qualified to attain the celebrity status.

Interacting with Berla Mundi on TV3’s New Day, the ‘Mehia Odo’ hit singer said“To me, only few people can be called celebrities in the country. Today, I can only pick out just a few like Nana Ama McBrown and Jackie Appiah,”

Kwaisey Pee added ”The thing is people get it wrong. My definition of a celebrity is someone who makes a positive impact society. Someone who does things worthy of emulation.”

He wholly disagreed to calling people who expose themselves on social media as celebrities, he said those people do not deserve the status.

“We don’t have celebrities in Ghana. I have lived in the Western world and when we talk about celebrities we know. It’s the other way round here. I don’t consider myself as one. I wanna get to where they will call you that. It’s self-professed in Ghana. There is no celebrity in Ghana. They don’t have what it takes.” he told host KMJ.

According to Kwaisey Pee, only person, Menzgold’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nana Appiah Mensah, nearly became a celebrity because “he had a private jet and all the luxurious cars” he added.
